Electric Energy Commerce
Purchase/Sale and Trading Contracts
W&T attorneys are experienced negotiators and drafters of contracts for the sale and purchase of electric energy, including enabling contracts, long term power purchase agreements, and tolling agreements. The firm also provides guidance regarding FERC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission regulation of energy trading.
Interconnection and Other Specialized Agreements
Firm attorneys have handled numerous generation interconnection agreements from the side of regional transmission organizations (RTOs) and utilities, as well as from the side of generators. We are experienced in documentation of specialized arrangements such as firming, energy exchange, and pseudo-ties.
Centralized Markets
Through our representation of RTOs and their market participants, we are well-versed in the centrally administered markets that RTOs operate, as well as those that they do not. We advise generation and industrial clients about transacting in RTO and other markets, and advise concerning the establishment of centralized markets, with or without an RTO, and trading platforms.
